    unique experience
    culinary highlight
    small room

The experience of sleeping on a futon while wearing traditional Japanese pajamas added a unique touch. The option for a private dinner featuring seasonal ingredients created a memorable culinary highlight.

The Japanese-Style Twin Room felt a bit small for a family, which might be expected given the region. Additionally, the breakfast offered an overwhelming amount of traditional dishes that seemed excessive for those with lighter appetites.

    genuine hospitality
    spacious room
    traditional meals
    crowded bath

The staff at Yamadaya Ryokan stood out with their genuine hospitality. Chika, in particular, took the time to explain how to navigate the Japanese customs, which made our stay feel more authentic. We loved our spacious room overlooking the garden, complete with soft futons that provided a comfortable night’s sleep. The traditional meals were nothing short of spectacular, showcasing seasonal ingredients. However, the public bath area got quite crowded during peak times, which made it challenging to relax completely. I appreciated the organic and calming ambiance of the ryokan, and the location near Kyoto station allowed us to easily explore the city. It would be wonderful if more dining options were available, as we missed out on desserts during our delicious meals. The experience was memorable, and I would definitely recommend it for an authentic stay.

The on-site dining experience was unforgettable! we savored kaiseki cuisine and were enchanted by friendly staff who provided insights into Japanese customs.

Seasonal dinner was excellent, though I did miss more dessert options.

Our Japanese-Style Superior Room was super cozy! The tatami mats were beautiful, and the futons felt just like mattresses—really comfy for a great night's sleep. The view of the nearby temple from the window was stunning, especially at night. The public baths were a nice way to unwind after a day out, although they did get a bit crowded at times.

    Amazing stay with cozy vibes!

Our stay was super cozy and memorable! The staff was always ready to help, and we loved how they let us store our luggage and even allowed us to bring food to dinner for our allergic friend. The location is perfect for biking around and checking out local sights. Just wish the dining area had more options!
