The experience of sleeping on a futon while wearing traditional Japanese pajamas added a unique touch. The option for a private dinner featuring seasonal ingredients created a memorable culinary highlight.

The Japanese-Style Twin Room felt a bit small for a family, which might be expected given the region. Additionally, the breakfast offered an overwhelming amount of traditional dishes that seemed excessive for those with lighter appetites.

The staff at Yamadaya Ryokan stood out with their genuine hospitality. Chika, in particular, took the time to explain how to navigate the Japanese customs, which made our stay feel more authentic. We loved our spacious room overlooking the garden, complete with soft futons that provided a comfortable night’s sleep. The traditional meals were nothing short of spectacular, showcasing seasonal ingredients. However, the public bath area got quite crowded during peak times, which made it challenging to relax completely. I appreciated the organic and calming ambiance of the ryokan, and the location near Kyoto station allowed us to easily explore the city. It would be wonderful if more dining options were available, as we missed out on desserts during our delicious meals. The experience was memorable, and I would definitely recommend it for an authentic stay.
